The Pelham Pathway Awards of Excellence

The Pelham Pathway magazine won two Awards of Excellence in the 2023 Savvy Awards presented by the City-County Communications and Marketing Association (3CMA).  The magazine was a finalist in the categories of Printed Publications - External Publications and Graphic Design - Publications.

The Savvy Awards, an annual event hosted by 3CMA, are designed to honor the outstanding work of communications and marketing professionals within local government agencies across the United States. These accolades shine a spotlight on innovative and impactful campaigns that educate, engage, and inspire communities. 

"From the cover photo to the streamlined design, The Pelham Pathway magazine engages readers with its informative articles, amazing photos, and more. The rebranded design meets the City's goal of producing a high-quality publication that informs its readers about development, educates them about municipal government processes, and creates community connections," according to one judge's feedback.

"This is a dynamic publication that perfectly captures the essence of what matters to the Pelham community. The photography is exciting and a refreshing look at the types of images that are possible," said another judge. "This is a great example of high-quality information that is an important piece of the communication network you and your team have established. Through masterful storytelling, captivating visuals, and insightful content, the magazine breathes life into Pelham, effectively conveying the city's stories and aspirations. 

In the Graphic Design category, the judges' comments indicated what truly sets the magazine apart is its clean design and simple layout. The judges also praised the magazine covers and the exceptional photography. 

"The ad-free publication meets the goal of reinforcing that it is city-focused. The covers are very appealing, and featuring articles and photos of community members encourages people to keep reading," one judge said. "Stellar work and a beautiful piece that was created. Keep up the amazing work."

The Pelham Pathway is produced by the City's Communications team, but it is a collaborative effort, with contributions from all city departments. "It serves as a window into the heart of our community, and we hope it is a source of pride for our residents," said Ainsley Allison, Pelham's Communications Manager. "We appreciate the City Council and Mayor's support of the magazine and their continued commitment to keeping the publication ad-free. 

"Being recognized in the communications industry on a national level is gratifying and serves as a source of motivation to continue our journey toward even greater excellence in communication," Allison explained. "Our commitment to engagement and the dissemination of vital information to our community remains steadfast. We thank the City-County Communications and Marketing Association for recognizing our efforts."
