[ARCHIVED] Job Opportunity - Manager On Duty

The City of Pelham Parks and Recreation Department is currently accepting applications for a full time position of Manager on Duty (Recreation Coordinator over Athletics). This position creates, plans, schedules, and implements and evaluates adult and youth sport programs for the Parks and Recreation Department.

Representative Duties and Responsibilities:  The list is not intended to be all-inclusive nor exclusive, but is intended to provide examples of typical duties performed.

  • Evaluates athletic interests and needs for programs and activities.
  • Develops, organizes, promotes and administers programs for youth and adults. 
  • Determines material, equipment, facility, supervision or instruction needs for each activity or program and coordinates with other staff members.  
  • Coordinates and leads drafts for each sports division and ensures all coaches are certified according to State requirements and are up to date on all rules for the season.

Education/Experience: Potential candidates must have a high school diploma or general education degree (GED) and at least one year of experience working in Park and Recreation and facility management. A college degree in Parks and Recreation or related field from a four-year college or university and experience with youth sports programs is preferred.

Certificates and Licenses: Coach Safety Certification from the State of Alabama or the ability to obtain within the first year of hire. Certified Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP) preferred.

Schedule: Candidate must be able to work days, evenings and weekends. Individual will need to be on-call and fill-in for other employees as needed.

Compensation/Benefits: The compensation range for this position is $38,966.62 to $51,964.08 based on education and experience. The City of Pelham also offers an excellent benefits package and participates in Tier I of the Retirement Systems of Alabama.
